President Serzh Sargsyan received today Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

Welcoming the guest, Serzh Sargsyan noted that highly appreciative of the dynamically developing relations with the UAE, Armenia considers the Minister’s visit as an important stimulus on the way to building closer relationship.

Noting that Armenia highly values the cooperation between the two friendly States, which dates back to the time of late UAE President Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of blessed memory, the President of Armenia said to be pleased with the fact that interstate relations continued to develop and strengthen on a day-by-day basis.

Serzh Sargsyan said to have kept heartwarming memories of his visit to the UAE in the spring of 2017, which gave a qualitative impetus to bilateral relations. The President expressed the hope that the Foreign Minister’s visit would add a new relish to the agenda of Armenia-UAE cooperation.

In turn, Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan thanked President Sargsyan for his kind wishes and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of his country’s leadership. The Minister expressed confidence that interaction between Armenia and the UAE will go furthering as the top leadership of the two countries have the necessary political will and a solid base for adding momentum to bilateral relations.

The Minister thanked President Sargsyan for Armenia’s simplifying the visa procedure and subsequently lifting the visa requirement for UAE residents as agreed upon with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, which was seen as an important step for both countries. He noted that both sides need to carry out significant work to get the most out of the cooperation potential in tourism, energy, agriculture and other sectors. Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan assured of his readiness to make joint efforts with his Armenian counterpart in this direction.

The parties took the opportunity to talk about regional issues and challenges, including the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
